Slow Eating

The majority of people in America mindlessly shove food into their mouths without thinking about what they are eating. To explore this idea, I experimented with how the senses could be used to make people more aware, and perhaps heighten their eating experience.

I decided to pair specific foods with sounds that would amplify their tastes and textures. In doing so, I wanted to create awareness of the physical sensation one feels when eating. The act of combining different foods with sounds allows one to become hyper-aware of each of the foods' various properties.

People interacting with the installation and talking about their experience.

I bent rods of wire to make hooks for the crostini

I cut balsa wood for serving the cheese.

Cut the fruit and meat and set up the instillation.
